On October 5, 2016, at the concert hall of Komitas Museum-Institute took place a piano music evening with the title “Komitas International Seminar-Festival”, which was dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Armenia. The concert lasted for two hours and there performed the Japanese pianist Takahiro Akiba and soprano Tatevik Movsisyan. Takahiro Akiba’s first performance was the work of Komitas “Seven Dances for the Piano”, which was very dear to him.
Then, together with the soprano Tatevik Movsisyan, they perfectly performed Tigran Mansuryan’s work “Yerkir Nairi” (“The Country of Nairi”) – vocal series for voice and piano.
After a concert in Armenia in 2015, the Minister of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia Mrs. Hranush Hakobyan awarded Takahiro Akiba an honorary certificate for the “Devotion to the Armenian Music”.
