On April 2, the Minister of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies of RA Hakob Arshakyan received the member of the Board of Directors of the company “Mitsubishi Heavy Industries” Christina Ahmadjyan.
Greeting the guest the minister referred to the perspectives of the development and progress of Armenia, which have become possible due to the victory of peaceful, velvet revolution, which has taken place in our country. Pursuing that goal, Hakob Arshakyan has highlighted the development of high tech sector.
Presenting the state policy carried out in that direction, the minister referred to the works directed at the formation of Armenia’s digital agenda, the project of the establishment of “National Venture Foundation”, the steps aiming at the development of startup ecosystem.
The minister highlighted the significant potential of the Armenian experts and the high quality of education in Armenia’s technical universities, but he also pointed out the necessity for bringing the sector up to a new level. He has mentioned that Armenia has the basis and the history to do so, and now the country needs to consistently develop education and science.
Christina Ahmadjian introduced to the minister the activity of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and a number of other companies where she serves as a member of the board, and expressed willingness to make efforts and to find areas of cooperation in the technological sphere.
During the meeting, the minister also touched on the World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT), which is due to take place in Yerevan this October, and emphasized the importance of the participation of Japanese companies in this important event in high tech sector. The parties agreed to organize negotiations with the heads of the Japanese companies in order to secure their attendance to the World Congress.
