Board of trustees of Komitas Musical Society of Japan holds first session at Armenian embassy

On June 6, the board of trustees of Komitas Musical Society of Japan held its first session at the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Japan. The participants of the session discussed the goals and programs of the musical society and approved the composition of the chairmanship and the musical society’s charter, as reported the press service of the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Hayern Aysor.

The chairman of the board of trustees is famous pianist Takahiro Akiba, who often performs the works of Armenian composers in Armenia and Japan. The honorary members are artistic director of Komitas String Quartet Eduard Tadevosyan, outstanding Armenian opera singer, Soprano Arax Mansourian and famous Armenian pianist Anahit Nersisyan.

The honorary president of the musical society is Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Japan Hrant Poghosyan.

The primary goal of the musical society, the mission of which is to present Armenian folk, spiritual and classical music, is to examine the musical heritage of composer Komitas and present his works and Armenian music to the Japanese audience. Through scientific and educational activities and performances, the musical society will enhance the cultural ties between Japan and Armenia in the field of music.
