The Presentation of Ancient Japanese Art Mizuhiki in IROHA Center (Video)

On July 3, 2018 from 16:30 to 18:00 Isi Mie sensei and Yokoyama Midori sensei presented to the students of IROHA Center a practical lesson of the Japanese traditional art mizuhiki. The art of mizuhiki was brought to Japan from China during Edo era. It is the art of decorating the envelopes of the official invitations. Nowadays it is mainly used for decorating the envelopes especially when giving money as a present on wedding ceremonies. During joyful ceremonies they decorate the envelopes in red, yellow, white or other bright colors and during sad ceremonies they decorate the envelopes in white and black colors when giving money to the relatives of the dead man in order to cover the expenditures.
