Opening Ceremony of Plaque in Tokyo Dedicated to the 25th Anniversary of the Independence of Armenia

On September 16, with the initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenian to Japan, in one of the central parks of Tokyo, in “Shiroyama Garden” grove took place the opening ceremony of the plaque “Cross-stone of Friendship”.

The plaque is dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Independence of Armenia, the 24th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Armenia and Japan and it symbolizes the friendship of the Armenian and Japanese nations.

The opening speech was delivered by the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia in Japan Mr. Hrant Poghosyan, who presented the idea of the plaque and expressed confidence that it would become one of the symbols of Armenian-Japanese relations – continuously deepening and expanding.

In his speech, the president of Japan-Armenia parliamentary friendship group of the Parliament of Japan Mr. Seishiro Eto referred to the development and  strengthening process of the bilateral cooperation, marking that it is evidenced by the recent visit of the group led by him to Armenia and the opening of this plaque.

The representative of “Mori Trust” company, Mrs. Mika Mori, who had supported the initiative, also delivered a speech,.

At the ceremony, there were present representatives of the Parliament of Japan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Armenian Diaspora and other honorable guests.
