The Meeting of the Armenian Deputies with the President of “Japan-RA” Parliamentary Friendship Association

On June 2-4, the president of “Armenia-Japan” Parliamentary Friendship Association Samvel Farmanyan and deputy Chairman of Standing Committee of External Relations of the National Assembly Alexander Arzumanyan had a business trip to Japan. In Tokyo, the Armenian deputies had a meeting with the chairman of “Japan-Armenia” Parliamentary Friendship Association, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Takeaki Matsumoto.
During the meeting, they emphasized further activation of inter-parliamentary relations, as well as the first joint session of friendship groups in Yerevan on the opening of the Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Armenia. The deputies of the National Assembly Alexander Arzumanyan and Samvel Farmanyan had a meeting with the Chairman of the Committee of External Relations of the Palace of Representatives of Japan Shinichi Suzuki.
Welcoming the progress in the Armenian-Japanese friendly relations during the recent years Shinichi Suzuki stressed the visit of the Armenian deputies to Japan expressing confidence that such visits, as well as the foundation of Japanese diplomatic representation in Yerevan will give a new impulse for the Armenian-Japanese relations.
The Armenian deputies also presented Shinichi Suzuki the approaches of the Republic of Armenia on the issues of regulation of Nagorno Karabakh confrontation, the relations of Armenia – Turkey and problems of regional security. Samvel Farmanyan and Alexander Arzumanyan were also hosted by the first deputy minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Nobuo Kishi. The interlocutors discussed the agenda of Armenian-Japanese bilateral relations, as well as the perspectives of cooperation in the international organizations. The Armenian deputies thanked for the assistance of around 5 billion US dollars provided to the Republic of Armenia by Japan since the independence of the country. They also stressed the importance of the continuation of the effective cooperation with the government of Japan in the sphere of socio-economic reforms.
