Galust Sahakyan Received the Ambassador of Japan

On May 20, the Chairman of the National Assembly Galust Sahakyan received the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Japan in the Republic of Armenia Chikahito Harada, who visited the parliament on the completion of his diplomatic mission in Armenia. This is announced by the press service of the National Assembly.
The Chairman of the National Assembly, highly appreciating the Armenian-Japanese relations, mentioned that the relations were based on friendship and mutual trust. He evidenced that the friendly relations had become more active, especially after the visit of the President of the Republic of Armenia to Japan.
Galust Sahakyan stressed the importance of the contacts between the friendly groups functioning in the parliaments of both countries and the mutual visits, which would contribute to the strengthening of relations and cooperation. The Chairman of the National Assembly highly appreciated the balanced approach of Japan to the issue of Nagorno Karabakh. He also referred to the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genicide, mentioning that there was a wish to put a cross stone in Japan in memory of the victims of the Genocide. The Chairman of the National Assembly said that the progressive humankind of the world, by condemning the Armenian Genocide could contribute to the prevention of suchlike crime.
Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Japan in the Republic of Armenia Chikahito Harada, thanking for the reception, attached importance to the success during the year and a half of his diplomatic mission. He highly appreciated the role of the National Assembly in the development of the Armenian-Japanese relations.
The ambassador mentioned that he himself would participate in the planting of Japanese cherry-trees–sakuras in the park of the National Assembly. He expressed hope that the sakuras to be planted would symbolize the longevity of the friendship between the two nations.
At the end of the meeting, Galust Sahakyan wished Chikahito Harada success during his diplomatic mission.
