On March 30, there was signed a Grant Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Government of Japan, which was signed in the form of Exchange of Notes “Program for the Improvement of the Equipment Envisaged for the Digitization of the Archive Records of the Public TV of Armenia”.
The agreement was signed by the Minister of Transportation, Communication and Information Technologies of RA Vahan Martirosyan on behalf of the Government of RA and by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Japan in RA Eiji Taguchi from the Japanese side.
The agreement envisages the provision of grant with up to 1.3 million US dollars from Japan, which will enable to purchase new equipment for the digitization of the archive of the Public TV of Armenia.
“Today a really important agreement was signed between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Government of Japan. This is another step towards the development of economic and social cooperation between the two countries”, said the Minister Vahan Martirosyan.
According to the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Japan in RA Eiji Taguchi, this is another page of cooperation between the two Governments, because in 2001 the Government of Japan provided financial assistance with the purpose of digitization of the documents of Matenadaran.
“The archive is a unique bridge from the past to the future. And it not only maintains the national values of the past but it also encourages the young generation to create a new culture for the future”, emphasized the Ambassador.
The Executive Director of the Public TV Margarita Grigoryan mentioned that the process of digitization of the archive of the Public TV is important not only for the Public TV but also for other representatives of media.
“I hope that after the completion of the process other TV companies, which need it, will also have the chance to use that technique”, mentioned Margarita Grigoryan.
