Meeting in the Armenia-Japan Friendship Group

On November 15 the members of the Armenia-Japan Friendship Group met with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Armenia Tikahito Harada.
Welcoming the Ambassador’s visit to the parliament, the Head of the Armenia-Japan Friendship Group Samvel Farmanyan has expressed hope that the inter-parliamentary relations of the two countries would activate and develop, as all favourable conditions exist. Underlining the Armenian-Japanese warm relations he thanked the Japanese Government for humanitarian aid shown to Armenia after 1988 disastrous earthquake. The opening of the Embassy of Japan in Armenia was highlighted for the rapprochement of the relations. The Ambassador has noted that the problems is also of importance for the country, and is still at a phase of discussion. Emphasizing the deepening of inter-parliamentary relations Tikahito Harada noted that elections had recently been held, and a new Friendship Group is formed.
In the course of the meeting the interlocutors touched upon a number of regional issues. The Head of the Armenia-Japan Friendship Group highly assessed the balanced position of Japan in the settlement of the NK conflict.
During the meeting issues of activation of inter-parliamentary cooperation and the development of the Armenian-Japanese economic, scientific-cultural relations were discussed.
