In the frameworks of the 14th Japanese Film Festival modern movies will be shown in Yerevan, Spitak, Gyumri, Ejmiatsin and Ijevan. The festival will be held from December 12 to 21.

“Nowadays the film production is rapidly developing in Japan and people have started to go to cinemas more frequently. I think that this festival will be a great opportunity for the modern Japanese movies to be shown in Armenia as well”, mentioned the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Japan in Armenia Jun Yamada.

According to him many people have expressed a desire to watch classical Japanese films and he hopes that next year they will manage to present to the audience the films of such Japanese film directors as Yasujiro Ozu and Akira Kurosawa.

The president of Hikari” Armenian-Japanese Scientific, Educational and Cultural Center Karine Piliposyan mentioned that this time in the frameworks of the festival there will be presented three films from fantasy genre and one full-length documentary film. The festival will be opened with the film “Room Laundering”.

“For the first time in the history of the Japanese Film Festival, the films will be shown also with the Armenian subtitles”, she mentioned.

On December 12 in Yerevan at “Moscow” cinema there will be shown the film “Room Laundering, on December 13 – “Fuzjko Hemming: A Pianist of Silence & Solitude” and on December 14 there will be the films “Destiny: The Tale of Kamakura” and “The Man from the Sea”.

On December 15 at the Culture House of Spitak there will be shown “Destiny: The Tale of Kamakura”. On the same day at “Narek” Charity Foundation of Gyumri there will be shown the film “Fuzjko Hemming: A Pianist of Silence & Solitude”.

On December 20 at City Cinema Hall of Ejmiatsin there will be shown the film “Room Laundering” and on December 21 in Ijevan there will be shown the film “The Man from the Sea”.
