Barbeque contest-fest held in Armenia’s Lori

YEREVAN.–Development and Preservation of Armenian Culinary Traditions NGO along with the Areni Festival fund, Akhtala city hall of the Armenia’s Lori Region, and with the support of the Armenian Ministry of Economy held on Saturday the fourth international and traditional barbeque contest-festival in Lori’s Akhtala city, Armenian News-NEWS.am Lori correspondent reports from the site.
The US Ambassador to Armenia John Heffern, Armenia’s Minister of Agriculture Sergo Yeritsyan local authority representatives and lots of tourists attended the festival.
18 restaurants and 5 groups participated in the contest-festival this year. Traditional barbeque contest-festival has become an impetus for tourism development, Lori Governor Arthur Nalbandyan said.
The first barbeque festival was held in 2009 with the participation of 8 restaurants and 2000 tourists, while last year number of participants increased making 25 restaurants from Armenia and Georgia as well as over 15,000 tourists all over the world.
