From May 9 to 14, in the capital of Japan- Tokyo took place the annual event “Week of Armenian Culture”, which has already become traditional. This year it was dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Armenia and Japan. The week of culture has been organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Japan with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia.
During the week of culture there took place exhibitions of famous Armenian and Japanese artists, an evening of the Armenian music, concerts accompanied by traditional Armenian and Japanese musical instruments, a photo exhibition, lectures and other cultural events.
There was presented the photo exhibition of “Tekeyan Center” Foundation titled “Ararat through the Eyes of an Armenian”, which has already had a great success in Armenia and Artsakh.
There were show the works of the famous artists – People’s Artist of RA Vladimir Margaryan (Valmar), SSR People’s Artist Hripsime Simonyan, Srbuhie Abajyan, Dayna Wolraf, Jansem and the works of the members of Japan Artists’ Association.
On May 10, there took place the lecture “The Unique Product of Armenia”, as well as a music event was organized
“The Evening of the Armenian Music”, in which there also took part the President of the Board of Trustees of “Komitas Music Society of Japan” Takahiro Akiba, canon player Mary Musianyan, who had arrived from Armenia and famous soprano Araks Mansuryan.
On May 12, there took place a seminar titled “The Armenian Embroidery”, as well as there was also a concert “Canon + Koto”, where canon player Mary Musianyan and koto player Junko Ishiwata had Armenian and Japanese musical performances. The event was attended by a large number of spectators- there were members of diplomatic missions, music lovers, and representatives of the Armenian community.
On May 13, there took place the event “Armenian Wines”, during which the participants had the opportunity to taste various wines of the Armenian production and Armenian dishes.
