The Whole Archive of the Public Television will be Available in HD Quality

In the future, the archive materials of the Public Television of Armenia will be available for the wide sections of the population. In the frameworks of the grant provided to Armenia by the Government of Japan, the Public Television will be saturated with the necessary equipment in order to digitize the archive of the television.

For years, the issue of the preservation and digitization of the archive has been a main priority for the Public Television as there is a rich national archive on different media storage, especially on films, video cassettes, DVDs and hard drives. They seriously needed processing, regulation and digitization. Stressing the importance of preservation the archive materials, since 2014, with the efforts of the television there had started the process of chemical processing of the archive materials. The process was carried out with a special attention and with a new rush. Parallelly, there had begun works towards the creation of a search system and a systematized base of the data of the achieve materials.

In the result of the cooperation carried out at the moment with the Japanese “JICA” state agency, the Public Television will be provided with a number of equipment, which will allow not only to digitize, but also to carry out the professional processing of the picture, to edit the archive materials, as well as to create an electronic film library of the above-mentioned materials with a multifaceted search availability.

In the result of the process carried out, the issue of long-term maintenance and usage of the archive materials will be solved, which will allow the society to make use of the Public Television and the archive wealth of “Yerevan” studio.

The re-equipment will allow the Public Television to increase the volume of the materials to be digitized and which will considerably reduce the terms of digitization of the whole archive.

The program will launch at the end of the current year.
