Cochlear implant “Switch On” in relation to the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects FY2017: “The Project for Improving Newborn Hearing Examination in the Republic of Armenia” On August 9, 2018, at “Erebouni” MC took place cochlear implant “Switch On” ceremony of 5 years old Arpine Abrahamyan who lost her hearing at the age of 3. During the very first seconds the girl was frightened to hear all the voices around her then cried out of unexpectedness, but a few minutes later she got used to that and started to laugh and enjoy the world full of sounds. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Jun Yamada (Ambassador of Japan to Armenia) as well as Mr. Arsen Torosyan (Minister of Healthcare), Prof. Mikael V. Manukyan (Executive Director of Erebouni Medical Centre) and Dr. Salpy AKARAGIAN, President and Founder of Armenian international Medical Fund. The Government of Japan has been contributing to the treatment of hearing difficulties for Armenian children through Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects FY2017: “The Project for Improving Newborn Hearing Examination in the Republic of Armenia” This Grant Contract (G/C) was signed between the Embassy of Japan and NGO “Havat” on March 14th, 2018. Total amount of USD 90,667 was funded by the Government of Japan (See also the article on Completion Ceremony which was on July 20, 2018).
