Japanese museums can accurately tell the visitors about the history, culture and new achievements of this country.
In classification of Japanese museums the National museums, as a rule, are classified on the upper level, for instance, Tokyo National museum situated in Ueno garden. This is the first museum founded in 1871. The huge collection of this museum presents the entire theory of traditional Japanese art, including the exhibits of history and science.

It is interesting to visit Idemitsu art museum where the visitors can admire the collection of Japanese and Chinese calligraphy, manuscripts and ceramic production. Suntory art museum exhibits the things of ancient art. These ancient things mainly refer to the traditional achievements of Japan. Yamatane art museum is specialized in Modern Japanese manuscripts. Japanese National crafts museum includes the collections of traditional crafts subjects referring mainly to the appliances of everyday life (for example ceramics and textile). Ota memorial art museum is specialized in Ukiyo-e manuscripts genre.
However, Japan is famous not only with its traditional descriptive art museums. Edo-Tokyo museum with the help of wide-scale maquette exhibits Tokyo history and everyday life appliances of the local population. Teyen Urban museum of Tokyo was founded in 1993 presents the original decorative compositions. Here temporary exhibitions are organized referring to different themes.

The most famous Tokyo modern art museum presents a great number of exhibits of Japanese and foreign modern art creations. Tokyo-Opera art gallery is frequently held conceptual exhibitions of modern art. Hara modern art museum in an elegant building in «bauhaus» style is situated in Shinagawa region of Tokyo. Here people can see those exhibits which reflect different styles of modern art. Modern art centre is in Mito art tower. It is located in Ibaraki prefecture (to the north from Tokyo). It is famous with its wonderful exhibits of modern art masterpieces.
Tokugawa art museum of Nagoya is specialized in Noh theatre clothing, for instance, swords, armor and different samurai attributes.
Hiroshige creation museum with Tokaido images is situated in Shizuoka prefecture. The collection of this museum is famous with its Utagawa Hiroshige creations; the most famous painter in Ukioy-e genre. The painter has more than 120 engravings on the trees.
