“Japanese Culture” Facebook page presents the biography of famous Japanese singer Stafenie Topalyan (born on August 5, in 1987), a singer of Armenian descent, composer and actress. She started to sing at the age of thirteen. Stefanie’s songs found a wide response in the Japanese “Anime” animation movies. As an actress, Stefanie made her first steps in the movie “Pride” in 2009. Being inspired by various genres and artists Stefanie sympathizes Michael Jackson and “The Queens” British rock band. She likes Armenian and Japanese food very much and also likes long walks.
Stefanie was born on August 5, in 1987 in the city of Los Angeles, State of California, USA. Her father is Armenian and mother – Japanese. Stefanie is a singer, composer and actress, who lives in Tokyo now. Though Stefanie lives in Japan now, she is faithful to her Armenian roots and she is in close relations with her grandmother.
She has heard many stories about the genocide – a historic event in the lives of the Armenians, which changed many fortunes, her grandfather’s and grandmother’s among them. Those stories heard served as a basis for her to be faithful to her Armenian descent and enthusiastically study her history and culture irrespective of the fact that she is far from her motherland. Her Armenian grandfather Jean Pier Topalyan and grandmother Goharik Michaelyan-Topalyan moved from Lebanon to the USA and finally settled in the State of Wisconsin.
Her magical talent and wide range of voice have already charmed thousands of hearts in Japan. Being awarded artistry from nature, she has felt that song is the dream around which her future life will expand. Stefanie is a graduate of Law Faculty of Aoyama Gaku-in University. She started to sing at the age of thirteen. Stefanie sent the audio records of her song to different recording studios and received a response from Japanese musical producer Jo Rino, who was indescribably impressed by her performance.
At the age of nineteen Stefanie made her big steps in the musical sphere at SME (SONY) recording studio. During the 49th prestigious Japanese “Japan records awards’’ she received the prize “Best New Artist”. In 2007, she issued two albums. Stefanie’s songs found a wide response in the Japanese “Anime” animation movies. Her first and second singles “Kimiga Iru Kagiri’’ and “’Because of you’’ successively have been the soundtracks of “Kiss Dum” animation. Stefanie’s 5th single “Changin’’ has also been the soundtrack for “D.Gray-man” animation movie. At the beginning of 2008 her song “Friends’’ was the second song in “Gundam 00” video series of Anime TV. It found its unique place in the Japanese Top 10 “Oricon”.
As an actress Stefanie has made her first steps in the movie “Pride” in 2009. The movie is based on the commix Yukari Ichijo’s shōjo. Stefanie has personified the image of Shio Asami. She has also participated in the recording of the
soundtrack for the movie singing the song “Pride ~A Part of Me’’ together with SRM. Besides the movie “Pride’’, Stefanie was shot in the movie “Tokyo Tribe’’ (2014) and short movie “It’s All Good” (2009).
