On September 26, at 12:30 p.m. at the Russian- Armenian (Slavonic) University there took place the 5th contest of the Japanese language in Armenia. At 12 o’clock, there came the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan in the Republic of Armenia Eiji Taguchi with his wife and other officials of the Embassy. From Moscow there arrived the representative of Japan Foundation Mrs. Miki Oota, as well as many participants and guests. The guests were received by the headmaster of the Institute of Humanities Mr. G.Z. Sargsyan. The students of regional profession greeted the guests with colorful kimonos and flowers.
After the oral contest, there was the contest of pictures, the theme of which was the Japanese animation. After watching the pictures, the Japanese delegation went upstairs to the third floor, to the “blue hall”. This year there were 19 participants of the contest, of which 7 were pupils and 12 were students. There were students from the Slavonic University, , Yerevan State University, University of Linguistics, Eurolingua International Languages Institute (EILI), “IROHA” center of the Japanese language courses and Armenian-Japanese “Hikari” center, “Usmunq” school and others.
At first the floor was given to the pupils, then there was announced a break. During the second part of the contest, there competed the students. Headed by Mrs. Oota and the advisor of the ambassador Mr. Sasame theychose the winners. With the announcing of the results there spoke out the ambassador of Japan, marking the high professional level of the participants. This year the main prize for the students was a ticket to Moscow to participate in the international contest and the cup of the ambassador.

Let me mention a couple of words about the winner Mariam Amar. She is an Armenian from Syria, she masters the Japanese language perfectly and is a I year student at the Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University, the profession of “Foreign Language”. Mariam wish you good luck at the contest in Moscow on October 24! There was a concert after the contest. Dances, songs and Japanese music played of the Armenian musical instrument canon.
The wonderful day at Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University ended with group and solo concerts of the students.
