Prof. Takeo Kanade Recipient of Armenian State Prize for Global Contribution to IT Visited RAU

Japanese scientist, author of “Virtualized Reality: Constructing Virtual Worlds from Real Scenes” and Origami World Theory, recipient of the 2019 State Prize of the Republic of Armenia for Global Contribution to Information Technologies, Professor at Carnegie Mellon University Takeo Kanade visited Russian-Armenian University on December 7.

During the visit, Professor Kanade met with RAU researchers, professors and students, who presented their current projects in the areas of natural science and technology. He also visited RAU Japanese Language and Culture Center. Ambassador of Armenia to Japan H.E. Dr. Grant R. Pogosyan was also present at the meeting.
Professor Takeo Kanade is a world-famous scientist, whose research interests lie in computer vision, visual and multimedia technology and robotics. He has written more than 400 technical papers, and has more than 20 patents. Professor Kanade is a member of National Academy of Engineering and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He is a Founding Fellow of American Association of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI), and the former and founding editor of International Journal of Computer Vision. He is recipient of numerous awards, the Kyoto Prize, the Franklin Institute Bower Prize, ACM/AAAI Newell Award, Okawa Award, C&C Award, Tateishi Grand Prize, Joseph Engelberger Award, IEEE Robotics and Automation Society Pioneer Award, FIT Accomplishment Award, and IEEE PAMI-TC Azriel Rosenfeld Lifetime Accomplishment Award.
