The Japanese pianist Takahiro Akiba was awarded the medal of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia at the Armenian Embassy in Japan for his significant contribution to the active dissemination of Armenian musical culture in Japan. Takahiro Akiba is the co-founder and head of the Komitas Musical Union (Komitas Society), established with the assistance of the RA Embassy in Japan, and is very active in organizing concerts of Armenian music. The medal was presented to the musician by the RA Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Japan Areg Hovhannisyan. During the meeting will de discussed the programs being implemented in the near future, in particular, the events envisaged in connection with the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Japan. Duduk player Yasutaka Tarumi was also awarded the Certificate of Honor from the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia for his significant contribution to raising awareness about the Armenian duduk in Japanese society. Let us inform you that on March 13 in Tokyo will hold a concert by Akiba’s and violinist Keiko Urushihara. During which on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the famous composer Arno Babajanyan, the musicians will also perform some of his works.
