On September 7, 2017 at Yerevan Center of Popular Creationat 16:00 o’clock took place the opening ceremony of the exhibition “Beautiful Handicrafts of Tohoku”, which was dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Armenian-Japanese diplomatic relations.
From September 8 to October 8 in the Center of Popular Creation there will be open the exhibition “Beautiful Handicrafts of Tohoku”, which presents the Japanese decorative and applied art. The dates of the visit are from Tuesday to Saturday (from 11:00 to 17:00 o’clock) and on Sunday (from 11:00 to 16:00 o’clock).
Tohoku – this geographical region of Japan covering a large area is unique in its values of cultural heritage. During a month, the art lovers of Armenia will have the opportunity to be acquainted with the samples of ceramics, embroidery, metalwork and woodcrafts, as well as the bamboo lacquerware enjoying the wonderful and various world of Tohoku traditions. The works included in the exhibition reveal in a new way the high technical level of Tohoku traditional crafts and the practical significance of everyday items.
The aim of the exhibition is to present Tohoku popular creation and to transfer to the art lovers of other countries the aesthetic perceptions of the folk masters of Japan. Since 2012, the Japanese travelling exhibition “Beautiful Handicrafts of Tohoku” has been presented in 32 places of 19 countries and Armenia will be the 20th country.
