In 2019 Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will provide the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia 40 firefighting rescue trucks. The fire fighting rescue detachments of Lori, Shirak and Syunik Regions have already received 14 fire fighting trucks, 3 ladder trucks and 1 machine controller. Another 26 units of technique will arrive in Armenia during the year. In the frameworks of the project the Japanese specialists have trained 42 rescuers, starting from the driver mechanics up to the commanders of the detachments. At present all the trucks are included in operations.

According to the deputy commander of Spitak Fire fighting detachment, r/s captain Argam Hakobyan, “Isuzu” cross-country trucks have wide range of technical capabilities: 3,5 tones capacity, modern sound and light alarms, 30 hoses with 600 m length, lightweight three knee ladders.

There is a complex of equipment outfit for 6 people, big hydraulic and small mechanical scissors, power saws envisaged for cutting reinforced concrete, generator, powerful floodlights, means of communication, newest breathing masks and so on. The trucks are resistant for operating in hard mountainous conditions. The connection nozzles of the hoses were adapted to the hydrants in Armenia in order to be replaced in case of disorder.

“The Japanese specialists are real experts and they tried to teach us every detail. Most of all they were surprised to know how we take the risk to drive a car operating on liquid gas. In order to make the communication easier they chose Armenian names for them. During the 20-days training course we got acquainted with their culture and they got to know our culture”, summed up Argam Hakobyan smiling.
