On the Assistance of the Government Of Japan For the Restoration and Maintenance of Valuable Archaeological Objects Excavated by Armenia

Today, at the Embassy of Japan to Armenia the Minister of Culture of RA Armen Amiryan and the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Japan in RA H. E. Eiji Taguchi signed the grant agreement of the “Improvement Program of Restoration and Maintenance Equipment of Archaeological Findings of the Scientific Research Center of Historical and Cultural Heritage” between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Government of Japan.

Then the Minister Armen Amiryan and the Chief Representative of Uzbekistan office of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Katsutoshi Fushimi singed between the Republic of Armenia and JICA the grant agreement of the “Improvement Program of Restoration and Maintenance Equipment of the Archaeological Findings of the Scientific Research Center of Historical and Cultural Heritage”.

Japan will Restore and Maintain Armenian Archaeological Finds With 70 Million Yen Funding

With the grant of 69 700 000 (sixty-nine million seven hundred thousand) Japanese yens (it is equivalent to nearly 315 million AMD and nearly 654 thousand US dollars) with the best methods there will be solved the restoration problems of architectural monuments, enormous archaeological values accumulated in the funds of “Scientific Research Center of Historical and Cultural Heritage” in the result of excavations. There will be procured modern equipment for the archaeological restoration laboratory of the center.

Minister Amiryan mentioned that in the past as well with the cultural grants of the Government of Japan provided to Armenia for years there have been solved many problems of technical equipping of the Armenian cultural organizations. The Armenian specialists had the opportunity to participate in various cultural trainings organized in Japan, which have essentially helped to develop professional skills and to use the gained knowledge in Armenia.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Manabu Hori and Ambassador Eiji Taguchi also considered the signing of the agreements an important step on the way to the dynamic development of mutual relations. On that occasion, the parties also emphasized the signing of the agreement of “Liberalization and Encouragement of Investments” signed between Armenia and Japan on February 14.
