Vahagn Khachaturian receives Japanese Ambassador to Armenia Fukushima Masanori

President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Armenia, Masanori Fukushima, according to the Office of the President.
Welcoming the Ambassador, President Khachaturyan congratulated him on the occasion of Japan’s National Day.
“The occasion of our meeting is a joyful one, as Japan is preparing to celebrate its National Day, the birthday of His Majesty Emperor Naruhito. On this occasion, I extend my best wishes to the people of Japan and wish His Majesty good health and prosperity,” the President said.
Expressing his gratitude for the reception and the congratulatory remarks, Ambassador Fukushima emphasized the importance of the continued development and strengthening of the friendly relations between Armenia and Japan.
“I believe that although the relations between our countries are already at a very high level, they still have even greater potential for development, and both sides should make every effort in this direction. Our countries have no political issues with one another. On the contrary, there is significant potential for expanding cooperation in the fields of education, culture, trade, and the economy,” the Ambassador noted.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed a broad range of issues concerning Armenian-Japanese cooperation, particularly in the field of high technologies. They also addressed practical opportunities for applying Japan’s experience in earthquake-resistant construction and the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
The discussion also covered the organizational preparations for EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, as well as Armenia’s high-level participation in the World Expo.
President Khachaturyan stressed that, within the scope of his authority, he would gladly support both Armenia’s достой representation at the Osaka Expo and the implementation of joint Armenian-Japanese projects.
The President also briefed the Ambassador on regional issues, particularly the risks of a humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh resulting from the blockade of the Lachin Corridor.
In his remarks, Ambassador Fukushima emphasized that Japan supports resolving regional issues exclusively through peaceful and diplomatic means and underscored the importance of restoring the normal operation of the Lachin humanitarian corridor.
