The first Tumo center in Asia Tumo Gunma officially opened on June 1 in Takasaki, Gunma Prefecture, Japan. Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Hakob Arshakyan delivered a welcoming speech at the opening ceremony. He emphasized the importance of the program within the framework of the Armenian-Japanese educational cooperation.
Distinguished Governor of Gunma Prefecture Mr. Ichita Yamamoto, Distinguished Member of the Chamber of Deputies of Japan, Mr. Taro Kono, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Japan, Distinguished President of the General Armenian Charitable Union, Founder of the Tumo Center for Creative Technologies, Mr. Sam Simonyan, Mrs. Simonyan, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, It is a great honor for me to address you today and announce the opening of Asia’s first Tumo Center here in the heart of Japan, in Takasaki.
But it also testifies to the spirit of cultural and intellectual exchange, which has been one of the pillars of the Armenian-Japanese friendly relations for decades.
Our peoples, located geographically far from each other, are at the same time united by common values such as democracy, sustainability, and deep respect for knowledge and cultural heritage.
Tumo Gunma will soon host approxinately 1,500 teenagers from all over the Prefecture, becoming a platform for bilateral cooperation and inspiration for innovation between Armenia and Japan.
I hope this is just the beginning.
It is part of our broad vision to make Tumo’s educational program available in other cities in Japan, giving more young people the opportunity to participate in this modern and dynamic educational model.
Let me thank our Japanese partners for their trust, support and friendship, as well as our partners for the efforts and effective cooperation we have shown at TUMO.
Together we are building a bridge that unites not only Armenia and Japan, but also the past and the future. May this center become a source of creativity and colloboration for generations to come. Thank you”.
